A FOUR-FIGURE sum has been raised in memory of “a pillar of the Tywyn community”.

Susan Kendall (pictured), who would have enjoyed her 46th birthday last month, died in January after a long battle with cancer.

Her husband of 25 years, Mark, who is also a town councillor, said his wife was “well-respected and a well-loved figure in the community”.

Following her death, a collection was held in memory of the former Ysgol Penybryn dinner lady.

A total of £1,039.87 has been raised and will be donated to the Jeans for Genes charity - an organisation which funds a range of initiatives that improve the quality of life of children and families affected by genetic disorders.

Throughout her life, Susan was a firm advocate of the charity and the research it sponsored.

Her husband wished to thank everyone who had donated money in memory of his “much-missed” wife.
