Madam,

I have just read some of the comments expressed by some town councillors in Tywyn regarding Gwynedd Council’s proposal to charge people to park on Tywyn promenade (Parking fees announced for Tywyn promenade).

As mentioned in your report the promenade in Tywyn does not belong to Gwynedd Council but was left in perpetuity to the people of Tywyn by John Corbet in the 19th century.

If you ask people in Tywyn they will tell you that the promenade belongs directly to us. I could not believe some of the sheep-like docility of comments expressed by some councillors.

There is no need to go on social media asking for people’s views, ask them direct and they will tell you straight. Come on, you councillors, don’t cave in to Gwynedd Council. Have some backbone and represent the electors who voted for you.

Yours etc,

Keith J Davies, Awel-y-Môr, Cambrian Road, Tywyn.
