TRIBUTES have been paid to a “master of characterisation”.
Actor Trefor Selway, right, died over the weekend following a battle with cancer.
Mr Selway, 86, was born in Pandy Tudur, near Llanrwst, raised in Penygroes, before living at Eglwysbach in the Conwy Valley for much of his life.
Amanda Rees, S4C’s creative director content has paid tribute to the man who made a huge contribution to Welsh entertainment.
She said of Mr Selway, who starred in drama series and films such as Mostyn Fflint ‘N Aye!, Oed yr Addewid, Y Palmant Aur and Hafod Haidd: “It was sad to hear of the death of Trefor Selway, the actor and entertainer who was among the pioneers of Welsh-language television entertainment who helped to secure the channel’s success from the early days.
“He could play both tragic and funny characters and excelled in classical stage drama, comedies, family drama and soul-searching films.
"In expressing our condolences to the family, we would like to pay tribute to a master of characterisation and an eloquent presenter.”
