TRIBUTES have poured in following the shock death of a “warm, gentle and pleasant” Aberystwyth shop worker and amateur actor.

Robert Samuel Davies, who lived with his stepfather in Heol Dinas, Penparcau, and worked at the Spar store on Terrace Road, died suddenly at his home last Wednesday, 30 August, at the age of 42.

Former Penglais School pupil Mr Davies had previously worked at the Co-op in Waunfawr, followed by CK’s after the store changed hands, before moving to Spar in January 2013.

Mr Davies, who studied English literature at Coleg Ceredigion, was a keen amateur actor having been a member of Castaway community theatre group and appearing in the TV show Hinterland.

Mr Davies’ stepfather, Larry Pugh, said: “Rob was a very private person so this has really opened my eyes to how many people knew him.

“I had no idea of the extent of his popularity. I have known him for 33 years and the feeling is difficult to explain.

“Rob was very socially aware. He always wanted to help anyone and everyone. He would have a go at anything and was very enthusiastic in whatever job he did. He was incredibly reliable.”

Police have confirmed they are not treating the death as suspicious.
