Madam,

Can someone, in very simple terms, please explain for me exactly what is going on with the proposed new medical centre in Tregaron?

As I understood it, the plans for the new centre were approved by Ceredigion County Council, the land was purchased by the Welsh Assembly for nearly £750,000 (no comment on that!), and quotations were sought. It was then announced that the only sole bid submitted was successful. Why was it of no interest to any other contractors?

Now I read that the whole thing is being revised and that “we are working tirelessly behind the scenes to redevelop existing designs”, and that they “continue to work through the challenges that arise from a project of this complexity”.

What does all this mean?

In my simple naivety I thought the plans were done, approved by the planners, the land had been purchased and a builder had been found and appointed. I even saw the drawings of the project on display in Tregaron surgery.

Can someone explain what’s going on and who is responsible?

Yours etc, C Cranfield, Tregaron.
