Madam,

Your coverage of the remarkable design faults at the new Tywyn Health Centre is timely and appropriate (‘Patients struggling to get to their GPs‘, last week’s Cambrian News). No doubt something will be done to at least make the situation better. It will of course come out of the Betsi Cadwaladr budget (and so the money will not available for other health needs – and of course, it won’t be a matter of a few hundred pounds to cobble a solution together!)

But there is a deeper issue that we won’t hear about: how did it happen at all? Who designed and approved this ridiculous assault course to get even to the waiting room? Had they never been into a health centre before – let alone designed one? More worrying – what will their next tri-umph be, and will someone be able to stop it in time? Leaving aside any local input (which would surely have spotted the utter stupidity of the design), what does this all say to us as patients about the ongoing competence of the health board? I would urge anyone to visit the building and see for themselves – it could even be a tourist attraction in the future.

Yours etc
