Locals are in a spin after a winterland ice rink opened in Aberystwyth.
The ice rink is the brainchild of Advancing Aberystwyth, the company formed as part of Aberystwyth’s Business Improvement District scheme.
The ice rink is in the car park of St Michael’s Church, with winterland attractions on the neighbouring castle field.
The winterland includes small fairground rides, a bungee ride and Christmas German food and drink stalls, along with a special Christmas food and craft fair at weekends.
The ice rink, which was proposed by Advancing Aberystwyth after demand from local residents, was officially opened by mayor Talat Chaudhuri, with Aberystwyth town councillors and Cllr Rhodri Evans, Ceredigion County Council’s economic development Cabinet member, also present.
It has already proven a hit with the public, who have strapped on their skates to give the attraction a try.
