Madam,

I am writing to thank, and praise, the many caring people who recently descended on my home to provide care for my husband, and support to me, at a time in our life that we sadly knew would come, but we could, nonetheless, never have been prepared for.

Two years ago my husband, John, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He first received excellent palliative care for 15 months provided by Bronglais Hospital, Aberystwyth, and the district nurses from Dolgellau and surrounding teams. Then since stopping the chemotherapy, he has been attended to at home by nurses and health workers from Hospice At Home, the district nurses, and doctors and occupational therapists from Dolgellau, until he passed away on Thursday, 6 July.

I cannot thank and praise these people enough; they’ve all been wonderful, caring and supportive, particularly during his last two tortuous weeks. If anyone has any doubt about which charities to support, I know where my money is going in future: Hospice At Home, the League of Friends of Dolgellau Community Hospital, and Bronglais Oncology.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart; you’re all angels.

Yours etc,

Marilyn Wheatley, Dolgellau.
