A BRAVE little girl from Dolgellau continues to inspire thousands of pounds in charity donations.

Three-year-old Elena Kay has a condition known as Russell Silver Syndrome, a congenital condition which means Elena is shorter and slighter than her peers and suffers delayed gross motor development.

Over recent months, Team Elena – established by Elena’s mum Olwen – had hoped to raise £2,000 to help the Child Growth Foundation, a service which the three-year-old’s family found “immeasurably helpful” during Elena’s difficult start to life.

Following a series of auctions and local events, Team Elena managed to smash their £2,000 target in only a matter of weeks.

Now, thanks to the efforts of five “wonderful women”, that pot has more than trebled after they completed the Vitality London 10k dressed in orange tutus at Elena’s behest.

Mum Olwen said: “All five Team Elena runners completed the 10k in London on 29 May – one even did it in a personal best whilst another took her time and was determined to ensure she got a ‘selfie’ at every London landmark!

“Elena delighted in the fact that they ran as ballerinas wearing orange tutus at her request.

“Alison Connaughton is originally from Dolgellau and a school friend of mine whereas the other fabulous four are a mixture of work colleagues from my days in Blackpool and my current employment.

“We have now tripled our target and there’s more still to come.
