TALYBONT Rachels suffered their second consecutive defeat as they were beaten by eight wickets against Commoners in the West Wales Cricket Conference, as Dave Wilcoxon (79 not out) and Ravinder Mander (62 not out) sealed a solid victory.

Batting first after winning the toss, Talybont had reached a useful 190 for 9, with opener Ben Harper (36), Grayson John (27) and Sojan (29) setting an early tempo.

Phil Abraham, batting at six, then took centre stage with a fine half century, before he was finally dismissed lbw from the bowling of Abhishek Somani for 51.

Somani claimed 4 wickets for 41 from his eight overs, before Talybont finished on 190 for 9 at the end of 40 overs, with Ian Lawton (1 for 51 from 9 overs) and Umar Aslam (1 for 29 from 9 overs) the other wicket-takers for Commoners.

In reply, opener Neil Stent was dismissed lbw by Anish (2 for 33), who also accounted for Rakesh Bhatia for 25, in a knock that had included five boundaries.

There was no further success with the ball for Talybont, however, as six bowlers tried and failed to halt the free-scoring partnership of Mander and Wilcoxson.

Mander struck 5 fours and a six in his 62 not out, and Wilcoxson smashed 10 fours and 2 big sixes in his unbeaten 79, to claim victory in the 37th over on 194 for 2.
