PWLLHELI’s Morgan Murray-Williams struck a magnificent unbeaten century as his side posted a formidable 243 for 7 at Parc Bodegroes against visiting Gresford, before securing victory by 177 runs in the North Wales League Premier Division.

Michael Hughes took four wickets in dismissing the visitors for just 66 for 9 in the 26th over, for a convincing home win.

Having won the toss and elected to bat, Pwllheli lost opener Swapnil Padmanand Kate cheaply, when bowled by Ryan Williams (1 for 40) - but then Murray-Williams joined Craig Edwards in a formidable partnership for the second wicket.

Opening bat Edwards reached his half century and looked poised to go further, until he provided a catch for Joshia Knowles, from the bowling of Matthew Caree (1 for 27), for an excellent knock of 52.

With Murray-Williams in superb form at the other end, Jason Underwood proved a worthy partner as he put on 32 runs, before being caught by Daniel Williams off the bowling of Simon Perry (1 for 55).

Michael Hughes (17) also offered support, but he was dismissed lbw from the bowling of John Bell, who went on to claim 4 for 40 from his 12 overs, with 2 maidens, including a fine caught and bowled to dismiss Laurence Barraclough.

Murray-Williams kept his focus to the end, finishing on 113 not out, with Sean Reilly on 11 not out as Pwllheli finished with 243 for 7 from their allotted 50 overs.

Gresford’s batsmen never looked like chasing down the target and Jason Underwood soon had openers Daniel Williams (9) and Sam Thompson back in the pavillion, including a caught and bowled.

Matthew Cree made it to 13, but he offered wicket-keeper Craig Edwards his second catch of the day from the bowling of Michael Hughes, who tore through the middle order to return figures of 4 for 33 from 12 overs, including 5 maidens.

Underwood, who finished with 3 wickets for 27 from his 12 overs, had John Bell caught by Michael Hughes for 10, whilst Sean Reilly saw off Ryan Williams for 13, and Syed Kaleem Aslam claimed a late wicket as Gresford only managed to score 66 before they were all out in 25 overs.
