ABERYSTWYTH Town Ladies emphatically completed the double as a dominant display from the South Wales League champions regained the Cup they last won in 2017, writes Steven Brookes.

After five straight Central Wales Women’s Cup Final triumphs, the Seasiders were finally defeated in the 2018 final to Llanfair United - but Aber had already knocked them out of this year’s competition.

Facing local rivals Aberystwyth University in the final at Park Avenue, it took just three minutes to open their account.

Forward Ella Ramseyer-Bache scored her first goal for the club with a very well-taken volley from the edge of the area.

The University battled well against Aber’s dominance, and as half-time approached the students would have been pleased to be just the one goal behind.

Aber, however, took control as Caroline Cooper doubled their lead, scoring directly from a corner, before Ella Ramseyer-Bache scored her second of the game, following a mazy run by Tania Wylde.

A minute before the break it was 4-0, as Wales Youth international Grace Morris headed in from a Cooper corner to give Aber a strong lead going into the interval.

It took just seven minutes of the second half for the Seasiders to score again, as Ramseyer-Bache completed her hat-trick with a good finish from close-range.

Cooper then scored with an outstanding strike from outside the area, and a header from Grace Morris, with the help of a deflection, then made it 7-0 to Aber.

Fittingly, it was top scorer Tania Wylde who completed the scoring with her 32nd goal of the season, after dribbling through the Uni defence to slot home.

The University produced some good saves to prevent the scoreline from increasing further, but it was the South Wales Women’s League champions who secured the victory and more silverware to cap what has been a brilliant season.
