BARMOUTH and Dyffryn United gave Carl Ryan his first win as manager as they produced a good performance to beat Cymru Alliance side Caersws 3-1 in their friendly at Wern Mynach.

The first half was a very even affair, with both teams struggling to take control, but in the 40th minute Jake Parr put the visitors ahead. After a good team move, Parr’s shot was too hot for the Barmouth keeper to handle and trickled into the net.

An excellent start to the second half, however, saw the Magpies score three goals in a frantic 13 minutes to seal the win. The first came from George Sotherns on 47 minutes, before Shane Jones put Barmouth ahead on 55 minutes and then Paul Lewis added a third goal on 60 minutes.

The nearest that Caersws came to pulling a goal back was a 35 yard pile-driver from Elliot Jones, which cannoned back off the crossbar.

A solid defensive performance saw the hosts earn a deserved win against the depleted Bluebirds squad, who had travelled with just 11 players, including player-manager Graham Evans, due to unavailability and injuries.
