AFTER back-to-back victories in the Novira Cymru Premier, Caernarfon Town’s momentum was halted by a 3-2 defeat at Airbus UK Broughton on Friday evening.

The Wingmakers extended their impressive run to four consecutive league wins, and while Canaries boss Richard Davies praised the hosts’ display, he was left frustrated by his side’s performance, describing it as “very disappointing” and “miles off” the standards he expects this season.

Caernarfon’s first opening fell to Sion Bradley, whose effort from the right was comfortably gathered by home goalkeeper Louis Fallon.

However, Airbus struck first after just seven minutes when Oliver Lanceley met an inviting near-post delivery to register his first Cymru Premier goal.

Lanceley almost doubled the advantage shortly afterwards, pouncing on a loose pass from Jake Canavan before being denied by an excellent smothering save from Connor Roberts.

The visitors drew level in the 36th minute following a VAR intervention. Referee Rhys Pryce initially booked Harry Charsley for simulation, but after reviewing the incident he overturned his decision and awarded a penalty, which Bradley calmly converted.

The game swung decisively in Airbus’ favour early in the second half as league top scorer George Peers netted twice in four minutes. The striker first headed home with precision before racing clear to finish coolly, despite Caernarfon protests for offside.

The Cofis pushed hard in response but could not find a breakthrough until deep into stoppage time, when Zack Clarke powered a header home from the visitors’ ninth corner.

There was still one final opportunity as Noah Edwards tested Fallon in the dying moments, but the Airbus keeper stood firm and the danger was eventually cleared, ensuring all three points stayed in Broughton.

Up next for the Canaries in the league is a tough test at Penybont on Friday evening.
