LLANUWCHLLYN faced a tough trip to Guilsfield on Saturday as they looked to bounce back from the disappointment of suffering their first home defeat of the season the previous weekend.

With a crucial run of fixtures looming, it was important for the visitors to respond positively, but they fell behind after just 10 minutes when Guilsfield opened the scoring through Jake O’Donnell after good work by Callum Peter Bromley.

Despite the setback, Llanuwchllyn reacted well and enjoyed several promising spells, repeatedly breaking through the home side’s defence. However, the Guilsfield goalkeeper Michael Jones was in inspired form and produced a string of fine saves to keep his side in front.

The visitors created a number of excellent chances. James Davies twice found himself through on goal but narrowly missed the target, while Gwydion Roberts thought he had equalised only for his effort to be ruled out for an infringement.

It proved to be a frustrating afternoon for Llanuwchllyn, who were unable to find the breakthrough their performance deserved.

Nevertheless, there were clear signs of improvement from the previous weekend, providing encouragement ahead of a huge match next Saturday when Penrhyncoch, who are still waiting for their first league win of the season, make the trip to Penllyn.

Kick-off is at 2.30pm.
