MACHYNLLETH suffered their first defeat of the MMP Central Wales League North campaign after Montgomery Town claimed a dramatic 3-2 victory at Cae Glas on Saturday.

The visitors struck first after 17 minutes when Charlie Kinsey finished off a move involving Thomas Halliday to put Montgomery ahead.

Machynlleth responded well and were back on level terms before the break. Liam Sully provided the assist for Dion Kohler, who converted to ensure the sides went into half-time all square.

Montgomery regained the advantage shortly after the hour mark when Sam Evans found the net following good work from Thomas Evans.

The hosts refused to give in and hit back once again through 19-year-old Antony Roberts, who capitalised on a fine piece of build-up play from Kohler to make it 2-2.

However, Montgomery had the final word. With the clock ticking down, substitute Conor Buckley struck the decisive.

Caersws Development suffered the same fate in a 3-2 home defeat to Welshpool Town.

Jared Marks gave Caersws a dream start by scoring after 14 minutes and doubled the advantage on the half-hour mark.

The hosts looked in control, but Welshpool produced a remarkable turnaround before the interval. Daniel Morris began the comeback before Nathan Hughes levelled matters, and Ethan Kinsey struck in first-half stoppage time to complete the recovery and secure what proved to be the winner.

Elsewhere, Forden United missed the chance to move level on points with early leaders Berriew after being held to a 1-1 draw by Llanfyllin Town.

Joshua Lenc opened the scoring after 15 minutes following good work by Michael Jones, but William Davies levelled on the stroke of half-time and neither side could find a winner.

Llansantffraid Village climbed to third place thanks to a convincing 4-1 victory at Kerry Reserves, with Mohamed Konteh stealing the headlines with a hat-trick on his first start for the club.
