SEVEN-times winners Cardigan Town sneaked through into the second round of the Costcutter Ceredigion League Cup, but they were almost undone by an Aberporth team, who played superbly to finish level at 2-2 after extra-time, before penalties eventually separated the sides.

The second division outfit did enough to win this game in normal time as they led with a goal from Johnny Kinsella, before it was cancelled out by Josh Mellor.

Reece Prowse put the Airmen back into the lead, but powerful front runner Ewan Jones saved his team when he grabbed an equaliser to make it all square again.

Cardigan ultimately held their nerve to win the tense penaly shoot-out by 4-3.

Reigning Costcutter Ceredigion League champions Llandysul bounced back following a shock defeat at the hands of Felinfach to win 4-0 against a Dewi Stars side that look to be heading back to division two, unless they can stop the slide.

The visitors opened the scoring when the ball was bundled home by Ifan-Sion Mason Evans, before Adrian Hazelby robbed a defender to slot home for 2-0.

Some excellent work by experienced midfielder Terry Maynard helped set up Josh Baker to score with a thunderbolt, and after the break the result was put beyond any doubt when substitute Chris Harris headed in a Dean Jones free kick.

Elsewhere a hat-trick from Marc Evans steered leaders Lampeter to a crushing 8-1 verdict over Cilgerran at North Road.

Christy Gale, Tom Willoughby, Jason Jones, Leon Holmes and Robert Slawkowski also scored, whilst Ollie Evans got a goal back for the Coraclemen.

Two stunning free kicks from Rhys Davies earned a hard fought 3-2 win for Crannog away at Felinfach. Robbie Evans had provided the opener, before Gareth Pierce and Joe Jenkins replied for the Milkmen.

In division two, Llanboidy are the only unbeaten side after they inflicted the first defeat of the season upon Bargod Rangers, with a 5-2 triumph at Parc Puw.

Dafydd Makepeace netted a brace and there were singles for Ross McDonald, Jac Griffiths and Lukasz Bukowski, whilst Josh Grota and Robbie Jenkins replied.

Newcastle Emlyn Reserves hammered Crannog Reserves 8-1, with four goals by Danny Williams and a hat-trick from Josh Harries. Jake Shakespeare was also on target, whilst Tony McDonald replied.

New Quay beat Lampeter Reserves 6-0, courtesy of two goals from TJ Gibbins and singles by Sam Roman, Charlie Dent, Aaron McCarthy and Glenn Baldwin.

Maesglas beat Llandysul Reserves 4-2 with a Kieran Harman brace, along with a Steff Evans strike and an own goal.

In the Reserves Cup, Ffostrasol Reserves were 3-0 winners over Maesglas Reserves thanks to a couple of goals from Owain Patterson and one from Josh Hastie.

Jake Kelly netted a hat-trick as Newcastle Emlyn beat Machynlleth Reserves 7-2 in the Emrys Morgan Cup, with Craig Gordon, Sam Skinner, Dion Phillips and player-boss Owain Thomas also scoring.
