TYWYN Bryncrug claimed local bragging rights and three valuable points with a 3-1 victory over rivals Barmouth & Dyffryn United on Tuesday evening (11 August).

Both sides went into the clash buoyed by opening-day wins, but it was the Magpies who broke the deadlock when 17-year-old Michael Horn found the net midway through the first half.

Tywyn hit back before the break, Nick Williams coolly converting from the penalty spot on 37 minutes to level matters.

And the Cae Chwarae hosts seized the initiative after the restart, Ben Holt putting them in front on 55 minutes before substitute Jamie Pymm added a third with 20 minutes remaining.

Barmouth pushed hard to get back into the contest, but Tywyn stood firm to maintain their 100 per cent start to the campaign.

Elsewhere, Welshpool Town won 2-0 at Abermule, Caersws Development drew 2-2 with Berriew, and Llanfyllin Town beat Bishops Castle Town 6-2.
