THE pinnacle of the Borth Golf Club calendar took place on the weekend of 1-3 August with both the women and men competing in their 36-hole club championship.
Club Championships
There were 34 men competing for the prestigious title of club champion and the historic Willis Cup. Gareth Davies, playing off a handicap of 0, produced a superb display of consistent golf to secure the win with rounds of gross 73 and 73 giving him a championship winning total of 146, four strokes ahead of the field. Ben Slater claimed the runner up spot with an excellent second round of gross 73, finishing on 150.

Nett Championship
The Torri Cup, awarded to best 36- hole nett score, was won by Jon Cook whose excellent rounds of nett 67 and 68 produced a winning total of 135.
Ben Slater enjoyed an outstanding championship, adding a second place in the nett competition as well as the gross. His impressive closing nett of 66 saw him finish just one shot behind the winner.

Women’s Section
There were 15 entries for the prestigious Gross and Nett Championship this year which is run over two days. Playing in her first championship at Borth & Ynyslas Golf Club, Lucy Hurst, a recent runner up at the Wales Golf Under 18 Junior Championship and playing off a handicap of 5.9, came in on the final day with an excellent gross 75 + 78 with a total of 153.
This exceptional play put her far ahead of the field and fully deserving the praise of Club Champion 2026 and the winner of the Sue Wilson Trophy.

Nett Championship
There were several excellent nett scores over the two days but it was Jean Harrison who came through with a nett 64 on the Monday to win the Championship nett prize and the Shân Powell Trophy on a count back from Gill Jones.
