Six local cyclists will set out from Lampeter rugby club on Saturday aiming to ride their bikes for more than 16 hours in a bid to raise awareness and support for Parkinson’s UK.

Dorian Rees, one of the six, said: “A good friend of mine was recently diagnosed as being affected by Parkinson’s disease, and this has encouraged me to do something to try and raise awareness and also some money for research.”

Mr Rees has persuaded other fellow cyclists to join him on the ride, which will cover over 200 miles in a little over 16 hours.

Starting out at 5am, they hope to complete over the 200 miles in a series of loops around Tregaron and Pontrhydfendigaid.

“We’d like to encourage anyone interested in the cause to ride along with us and complete any distance from five miles to 100 miles!”

“Any donations would be gratefully accepted, via our JustGiving page or on the day.”
