THREE drivers have been slapped with antisocial orders by police after a number of vehicles were filmed using a popular family beach as a racetrack.
Police said they were called to a report of a number of vehicles being driven in antisocial manner on Black Rock Sands near Porthmadog at around 2pm, on Sunday afternoon.
Sergeant Neil Jones said: “On arriving at the beach officers found an organised meet where vehicles were being driven antisocially up and down the beach.
“We want to remind people that public safety is our main priority and anyone found driving dangerously on the beach will be prosecuted.”
The intervention by police has been welcomed by residents and the local councillor who fear the car drivers are putting people’s lives at risk.
One beachgoer, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “I and other people on the beach today are sick and tired of the beach being used as a racetrack.
“Gwynedd Council are aware of the problem, but have done nothing.
“The beach is not a safe place to be and people are clearly at risk.”
