PEOPLE in Llanbedrog are furious after vandals targeted a monument, worth over £2,000.
Llanbedrog Community Council erected the monument in 2007 at the summit of Llanbedrog Headland to advise visitors and locals of what mountains and coastlines they can see from the location.
However, members of Llanbedrog Community Council were shocked to discover that the monument had been vandalised towards the end of March.
This incident follows the destruction of a bench at the same spot.
Llanbedrog council clerk John Harris said the community is disgusted by what has happened.
He said: “The community are up in arms. This monument has stood on the headland for the last nine years and has been of use to dozens of walkers along that route.
“We are saddened to find out that it has been targeted by vandals – the damage to it has been inflicted by heavy stones with considerable force resulting in the granite inscription being cracked, possibly beyond repair.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact North Wales Police on 101.
