A CILIAU Aeron man has been found dead on the day he was due to appear at a court in Kent charged with 16 historic sex offences against young girls, it emerged this week.

Victor Farley, 62, was due to appear before Folkestone magistrates on Monday, 9 November, charged with the offences which are alleged to have happened in Tenterden and Headcorn in Kent in the ‘80s and ‘90s.

He was facing three charges of gross indecency with a girl under 14, two of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 and 11 of indecent assault on a girl under 14.

A warrant for his arrest was issued after he failed to appear in court.

A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police later confirmed Mr Farley had been found dead.

“On Tuesday, 10 November, the senior coroner for Ceredigion, Mr P I Brunton, opened an inquest into the death of Victor Farley, aged 62, whose body was found near his home in Ciliau Aeron, on Monday, 9 November,” he said.

“Evidence of identification was taken and the inquest was adjourned. No date has been confirmed yet.”
