A ROYAL Mail sorting office has been evacuated after a suspicious letter was reported earlier today.

Emergency services are still on the scene at Glanyrafon Industrial Estate near Aberystwyth following reports of a suspicious package at around 8.45am this morning.

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson confirmed: “Emergency Services are in attendance at the Royal Mail Sorting Office, Glanyrafon Industrial Estate, Llanbadarn Fawr, Aberystwyth.

“Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of a suspicious letter at the location at around 8.45am this morning, 26 January 2022.

“A section of the building has been evacuated as a precaution and a cordon is in place.”

Chief Inspector Christina Fraser added: “I would like to reassure members of the public that this is a safety precaution and that no-one has been injured or harmed at this time. There is not believed to be any risk to the public at present.”
