CONCERNS have been raised about a “clearly dangerous dog” on the loose in Dolegllau after it killed a family’s cat.
A large unaccompanied dog, possibly a “prohibited breed, similar to a pit bull”, viciously attacked and killed Sandy in South Street early on Saturday morning.
Sandy’s owners were too upset to talk, but there are now fears over whether the dog will attack again and police are keen to track down the owner as quickly as possible.
Investigating Officer Pc 2585 Jones at Dolgellau Police Station said: “The incident has been captured on CCTV and viewed by specialist dog handlers and there is some concern the dog maybe a ‘prohibited breed’.
“It’s also clearly dangerous and so we are keen to trace the dog and its owner as soon as possible and before it attacks anything, or anyone else.
“The dog is described as similar to the ‘pit bull’ breed – large, tan in colour with a prominent light-coloured collar.
“If you recognise the dog, or know or suspect you know the owners I’d ask you contact North Wales Police and of course it goes without saying we’d advise not to approach the animal.”
Anyone who has information has been asked to call the police on 101 or ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and quote RC 1714 5375.
