A WOMAN has fallen to her death at a popular beauty spot in Meirionnydd.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman near Fairbourne yesterday afternoon.

Officers and paramedics were called to Panteinion Friog at 2pm following reports that a woman had fallen near the Blue Lagoon lake.

Detective sergeant Dafydd Curry said: “I am appealing for anyone who may have information about this tragic incident to contact us on 101, quoting reference V078742.”

Police said they are not treating the death as suspicious.

A spokesperson for the Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed the sad incident: "We were called at shortly after 1.50pm yesterday (Wednesday) to reports that a woman had fallen from rocks at the Blue Lake near Fairbourne.

"We sent the Wales Air Ambulance and a crew in an emergency ambulance."
