AN Aberystwyth actress has been nominated for a BAFTA for her latest television role.

Gwyneth Keyworth has been nominated for a BAFTA Cymru Actress award for her role as Megan Ruddock in the tense S4C drama series, Craith.

Also nominated in this category are Eve Myles as Faith Howells in Keeping Faith/Un Bore Mercher, Amanda Mealing for her role as Connie Beauchamp in Casualty and Annes Elwy as Beth March in Little Women.

Gwyneth’s co-star in Craith, Rhodri Meilir, has been nominated in the Actor category for his role as Dylan Harris.

Director Gareth Bryn, editor Sara Jones and photography and lighting’s Stuart Biddlecombe have also been nominated for their work on Craith.

Craith, which means scar, was shown on S4C this in January.

The eight-part drama filmed in Blaenau Ffestiniog and throughout Snowdonia, told the story of detective DS Cadi John, played by Siân Reese-Williams, who returns to north Wales to care for her ailing father.

However, when the body of a young woman is found in a local river, it becomes obvious that sinister secrets lie within the stunning north Wales scenery.

Gwyneth said: “I’m absolutely delighted just to be nominated and honoured to be in such good company. Fingers crossed I don’t trip up on my way into the ceremony.”

Amanda Rees, S4C’s dircetor of content says: “We are very proud of Gwyneth on her nomination for the prestigious 2018 BAFTA Cymru awards for her role in S4C’s Craith. Gwyneth has developed into a highly talented actress and we are delighted that S4C can be seen as a platform to develop young actors. Craith has had a fantastic response and has received a number of nominations at this year’s BAFTA Cymru awards.”

The 27th ceremony will take place on 14 October at St David’s Hall, Cardiff and will be presented by Huw Stephens for a fourth year.
