STAFF at a Llanidloes building society agency are urging people to help them collect food for a foodbank.
Members at the Yorkshire Building Society agency, based at Milwyn Jenkins & Jenkins on Great Oak Street, have set up an official donation point for Jubilee Storehouse, which is based at St Anne’s Church in Aberystwyth.
The Storehouse, which was set up in 2011, offers three-day emergency food parcels to people struggling to be able to buy food to feed their families.
Adrian Foulkes, the Yorkshire Building Society proprietor and director of Milwyn Jenkins & Jenkins, said he hoped Llanidloes residents would help out.
He said: “It is shocking that so many families in our community rely on foodbanks in order to put a meal on the table but we’re determined to do what we can to play our part and help those who have fallen on hard times.
“It’s really easy to help and doesn’t have to cost much - just pop another tin of peas or meat into your trolley and bring it along to us.
“We’ll make sure it finds its way to someone who really needs it - someone who might otherwise go hungry if it wasn’t for fantastic groups such as the Jubilee Storehouse.”
The agency is open to accept donations between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
