AN ABERYSTWYTH Air Cadets leader has been praised for his 40 years of service to the community and for training what is thought to be thousands of people in first aid.

Clive Parker, Commanding Officer of Aberystwyth Air Cadets and retired BT engineer, has been part of the squadron for 30 years, and at the forefront of leading the squadron for almost 15 of those years.

Apart from his services to young air force hopefuls, Clive served as a Special Constable for more than 20 years, a school governor at Penglais School for 12 years, a shore crew member at the RNLI for six years, and a volunteer for the Samaritans charity for four years, among many other contributions in a distinguished and lengthy CV.

But by far his most noteworthy contribution to the community, according to one colleague at the air cadets, has been the first aid training Clive has delivered through the British Red Cross, St John’s Ambulance and the Air Cadets.
