AN ABERYSTWYTH woman has been nominated for Hywel Dda Health Board’s Volunteer of the Year award.

Hywel Dda’s annual Best of Health Staff awards recognise the achievements of staff and volunteers from across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire, who often go beyond the call of duty in their work for the benefit of patients and service users.

After being told in November that she had been nominated in the category for volunteer of the year, Amanda Key, who has volunteered at Bronglais Hospital since 2012, will now attend an awards ceremony at Parc y Scarlets in Llanelli on Thursday, 21 January.

Speaking to the Cambrian News, Amanda, 49, said: “It was a surprise more than anything, but I do feel proud to be nominated.

“It was my volunteer co-ordinator, Lee Oldale, who nominated me.”

Amanda, who also volunteers at the National Library of Wales, said she has had plenty of diversity in the roles she has helped out with.

“I have been doing varying roles throughout the period I have been at Bronglais,” she said.
