A Criccieth amateur dramatic group has scooped two major awards.
The Criccieth Starlight Players picked up two gongs at the National Operatic and Drama Association, Wales & Ireland Regional Conference Gala Awards earlier this month.
Adding to the already-impressive list of awards the society are proud to have been awarded over the years, the players were overjoyed to have been nominated for six awards this year, and then win two of them at the awards ceremony in Hereford.
Paul Dunn won Best Individual Performance in Drama for his portrayal of Robert in Boeing Boeing, the second award the society won was for Best Drama Production for the Marc Camoletti play Boeing Boeing.
Geoff Atherton, director of Boeing Boeing, said after collecting the award on behalf of the society: “I’m so pleased to be able to represent the Starlight Players at the NODA Awards here in Hereford, this award is for the whole cast, crew, front of house staff and of course Marc Camoletti for the timelessly good script.”
Back in Criccieth, the Starlight Players are currently performing their new production “Starlight Showcase – A Variety Show” written by the ‘Players stalwart Kate Dunn.
