THE work of a Llanidloes artist has been on show in the nation’s capital, after it was selected to go on display as part of Wales Week in London.
Osian Gwent, who has a studio and gallery in Aberystwyth, was invited to show his expressive landscape paintings last week at the Exhibition of Contemporary Welsh Art, as part of the annual Welsh cultural event.
Wales Week in London is an annual series of activities and events that celebrates and promotes everything that’s great about Wales. It galvanises existing Welsh communities in London and seeks to raise a positive profile of modern Wales in the capital.
Commenting on his work, Osian said: “I draw and paint colour studies in the landscape and then refine the work once I’m back in the studio. This means that the work has a sense of place, and yet can also evoke memories and personal interpretations in the viewer.
“I create a sense of intimacy and intensity, and the idea of a glimpse into a remembered reality.”
