Dr David Church’s assertion (Cambrian News Letters, 18 June) that ‘herd immunity’ is still policy, might appear extreme until you consider the huge movement of untested, elderly patients from hospitals to care homes, in the early stages of lockdown.

That mass transfer reveals a very disturbing mindset in the higher echelons of government, which is further exemplified by government policy on vaccine research.

An overwhelming majority of people say the vaccine should be cheaply available to all nations, and most media coverage suggests that is UK policy.

However, it is not the case, and our government is in lockstep with America in refusing to agree that big Pharma vaccines should be patent-free.

They would hold the entire world to ransom to protect their legal dominance, and yet billions of international state aid is funding research.

Like the banking crash, we again see private profit underpinned by socialised sacrifice, and it is a bad omen for the current trade negotiations with America.
