Madam,

So the news is that Barmouth Bridge is under threat.

The bridge could have generated much-needed funds, but I can’t say I have seen any measure this year or last to do anything to raise money. It could have had a tollgate fitted.

There is a cottage on site that could be used for maintenance, so there would have been few set-up costs. I don’t think the council tries hard enough to save this asset amongst Barmouth’s attractions. This bridge is part of Barmouth’s history and goes back in people’s thoughts a long way. Most couldn’t envisage Barmouth without this bridge. Why, oh why, can’t the council see that this bridge is capable of looking after itself if given the chance. So, wise men of the council, think on...
