With reference to your article I write in exasperation about the difficulty of accessing Aberystwyth town centre.
When I moved here to Cardigan if we lived in the surrounding areas of Aberystwyth access within the town was easy as park and ride was every 20 minutes from Park Avenue car park to Aberystwyth giving access to the shops in town.
This service was [a] lifeline for many old and young. This service was withdrawn!
I normally park in the car park in Park Avenue but when I visited recently I had great difficulty in paying for the ticket to stick on my windscreen.
I rang the council office as I am not very tall and could not use my card to pay, even standing on my tip toes!
The current method of payment is not suitable as I am short in height and could not see the instructions in Park Avenue car park.
As a result I have not visited Aberystwyth since it has been installed; it is certainly not suitable for short or elderly people.
There is however a very easy solution to this problem - restore the park and ride service. This worked well and was popular with the general public.
I would suggest you ask the older people’s views on the changes as it is important that customers can read instructions at an appropriate height for all heights to read.
So restore the park and ride and ensure public notices are of a height that tall and short people can read and pay by coins or card, not everyone has a card.
