A RENOWNED Cardigan shop closes its doors next month after 23 years in the centre of town.
An unashamedly old-fashioned hardware and household good store, Siop-Y-Cardi was opened by Keith and Cecilia Williams in 1994 in a former car salesroom in Priory Street.
The couple, from Newchapel in north Pembrokeshire, who are looking forward to retirement, are proud that their business quickly gained a reputation for stocking just about everything one could imagine – and that bigger stores in the area, have referred their own customers to them.
Mr Williams, 67, explained this week how they had witnessed a change in buying habits with most of their customers being from the older generation.
“There seems to have been a new culture developed,” he said. But reflecting on the past 23 years, he added: “We can honestly say we have enjoyed the experience immensely and made many friends.”
