LONG-empty Aberystwyth shop owned by Ceredigion County Council could finally be about to get a new lease of life.

The property at 52 Terrace Road, a former off licence next to The Libertine cocktail bar, has recently been renovated after standing empty for several years and is currently on the market.

While the council said it had not reached an agreement over leasing the premises, a spokesperson said an offer has been made and the authority was hopeful of striking a deal.

Another empty council-owned shop, at 46 Terrace Road, which was formerly the Columbine Florists, is also expected to be occupied soon.

The council confirmed that it is already receiving a rental income from the property, but that the leaseholder is preparing to sublet it.

The spokesperson said: “52 Terrace Road has recently been extensively refurbished and is on the market to be let.

An offer has recently been received for 52 Terrace Road and the council is in discussions with a prospective tenant.”
