PLANS for a modernised post office with Sunday opening hours in Aberaeron have been given the stamp of approval.

The new-look service, which will launch on Monday 16 May, will be provided from three serving positions, one modern screened, one open plan and a Post Office serving point at the retail counter offering selected services during shop opening hours.

The branch itself will open from 9am to 5.30pm, Monday - Saturday, with selected Post Office products and services available from the retail counter during shop opening hours which are 8am to 9pm, Monday – Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sunday. The opening hours which will increase by an extra 38 hours a week will offer more choice of times to visit.

The Post Office will need to close at 5.30pm on Thursday 5 May whilst the refurbishment takes place. During this short time of closure Post Office services may be accessed from any convenient Post Office branch including Newcastle Emlyn and Llwyncelyn.

Sue Whittall, Post Office area manager said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”
