TRUSTEES of Cardigan Swimming Pool are once again banking on the public to get behind them in their latest bid to secure funding essential to its future.

Last October the pool narrowly won the regional final of a national competition following a “massive” community response from the town.

The Cardigan votes secured a potential lifeline of £12,500 from the M&S Energy Fund to install solar PV and reduce running costs.

But now trustees are making another impassioned public appeal for votes in order to secure funding for LED lighting from the same source.

“Unfortunately due to continued cuts in funding year on year, we have reached a very difficult time in the maintenance of our much-loved community swimming pool,” they said in a statement.

“We desperately need your support again this year to help us to get LED lighting installed.”

They say the lighting will slash electricity bills and enable the facility to become more energy efficient, while helping to reduce its carbon footprint.

In addition “a much-needed quality of lighting” would be more compliant with health and safety standards and enable them to update and improve the pool resulting in a much nicer customer experience.

“There is a serious threat to our future if we cannot improve our building or financial situation,” said the trustees.
