New Quay bodybuilder Carys Llewelyn is celebrating after winning a national title in Merseyside last week.

Taking part in the National Amateur Body-Builders’ Association’s Miss Bikini open class at Southport, Carys came first out of 18 entrants.

Her triumph marked the culmination of 16 weeks’ dedicated preparation which had seen her exist on a diet of six small meals of cod and asparagus a day, washed down with six to eight litres of water.

Carys also had advice from a coach on what hours and which parts of the body to exercise every day, as well as what to eat.

Her next competition will be at the NABBA Universe event at St George’s Hall, Bradford, in November.
