THE Ceredigion Sports Council has been awarded the Gold Language Charter for use of Welsh in everyday business and developing communities in the county.
The Charter’s aim is to raise awareness of Welsh and bilingual services that are provided across the county.
The Gold Award is awarded when an organisation or business provides a completely bilingual service; when every contact with the public is bilingual and when the organisation or business promotes its bilingual services.
The award was presented in the council chamber in Penmorfa, Aberaeron, on 12 April.
Cllr Gareth Lloyd, Cabinet member responsible for economic development and community development, and the chairman of the CSC, said: “The Ceredigion Sports Council has been working hard to develop sporting talent and opportunities in the county. In doing so in a Welsh-speaking area, it’s vital that the Sports Council does so effectively in Welsh and English. The award is recognition of the effort made to achieve this.”
Ceredigion Sports Council aims to represent the interests of club based sport in Ceredigion. It is the umbrella organisation of affiliated sports clubs, leagues and related community organisations.
