THE latest community news from Barmouth
Women’s Institute
Members of Barmouth WI enjoyed their Christmas dinner at the Min-y-Môr Hotel on 15 December.
The meal was followed by a short nativity play with a difference. Val Vine read Joyce Grenfell’s version as a nursery school teacher, and the play acting by nine members was very amusing. It was followed by everyone singing carols. There were several raffle prizes and the centenary bags were for sale.
Exhibition ideas
St John’s Hall Gallery is inviting proposals for four week-long exhibitions over the summer.
The call is open to artists from anywhere, but with a preference for those with a connection to the Barmouth area.
Artists need to be able to hang and dismantle their own exhibitions so need to be in travelling distance. This is not an opportunity that is likely to result in a lot of sales, but rather is a chance for your work to be seen in a gallery setting by a new audience.
The deadline for proposals is 31 January. Please read the guidelines carefully before submitting a proposal. Full details are on the St Johns Hall Gallery site.
The gallery is currently only formally open at weekends over the winter, but, if you are passing on other days and the lights are on, Bernard or Reyna will probably be there working and will be happy for you to call in.
