Council
FOLLOWING the resignation of Cllr Steffan Richards, the town council has declared a vacancy in the Conglywal ward.
The Independent Remuneration Panel for Wales said the council s in Group A, with a precept over £200,000, and therefore likely to have a greater number of committees, which reflect their level of activity.
Town and community councils in Group A must ensure that an annual payment of £500 is available for a minimum of one and a maximum of five members to recognise specific responsibilities. The town council will therefore nominate which chairs of its committees is to receive the additional payment.
Junior football
IT HAS been quite an eventful season for the Under 16s. They won the Ll?n and Eifionnydd League, were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Llangefni in the final of the North Wales Under 16 Challenge Cup, and then lost 5-3 in the Gwyrfai Cup final. A change of luck saw them beat Pwllheli in the J Robertson Trophy final at Barmouth. The two sides met again last Wednesday at Dolgellau in the final match of the season, which was the Kenwyn Parry Memorial Cup and which was won 3-1 by the Blaenau side, thanks to two goals from Cai Jones and one from Gerwyn Williams.

Bowls
THE local club had a crushing 10-2 home win over Bangor in the North Wales League A thanks to wins by Martin and Dafydd Hughes, Mike Burgoyne, Staphen and R Elwyn Jones, Emlyn Williams and Adam Hyde.
And this was followed by beating Llanrwst 9-3 at home on Saturday with Adam Hyde, Martin, Dafydd, Jason and Barry J, Hughes, Mike Burgoyne and Stephen Jones and they are at Colwyn Bay Legion this Saturday.
Dafydd Hughes was also in the Gwynedd Veterans side who took on the Deeside Veterans at Hawksberry near Flint.
Fun day
THIS year’s fun day is to be held at Diffwys Square on Sunday, 16 June, 11am - 4pm. Making a popular return is the Elvis of North Wales, Wynne Roberts, together with the DJ Phil Evans, Dylan Roberts and other acts, as well as dancing, fancy dress, raffles and stalls. Proceeds will go to the specialised dementia day services and the fire service.
