Soccer
IN their first pre-season friendly matches Blaenau Amateurs were 2-0 winners over Porthmadog under 21s side at Cae Clyd on Thursday evening with goals from Huw Parry and David Copsey.
They host the Bala under 19s side tonight (Thursday) with a 6.30pm kick off.
Planning
THE council has no objection for the planning applications by Cardtronics to associated signage with and ATM machine and the retention of the ATM both at the Co-op.
A Welsh Slate application to remove materials from a mineral working deposit at the Oakeley Quarry was also permitted.
Recorders
THE council has accepted a quote of £1,500 to update five recorders as the CCTV needs upgrading due to problems with the software.
Charity
A WELL-ATTENDED charity evening was held at the RWF Club on Friday evening with entertainment provided by local duo Alan and Gerry and disco music by Phil Evans.
During the evening there was a raffle and an auction of a variety of donated prizes.
The proceeds went to the Alaw Ward at Ysbyty Gwynedd boosted by a kind donation of £100 from the Moelwyn Choir.
The final total is yet to be confirmed.

Choir
FOLLOWING their second prize at the Llangollen Eisteddfod, the Brythoniaid Choir will be in concert at Y Ganolfan, Porthmadog at 7.30 this Sunday evening with guest artists Steffan Rhys Hughes, tenor, Meinir Wyn Robets, soprano and Urien Sion Hughes, baritone horn.

THE Maenofferen Gallery hosts an exhibition of contemporary fibre arts under the title of Inspired, the work of Pat Butters, Theresa Fox-Burne, Helen Harris and Anwen Hughes until 29 July and admission is free during the library’s opening hours.
Advice
ON Mondays between 10am and 1pm a representative of the Citizens Advice Bureau will be available at the library to deal with any relevant questions and no appointments are needed to attend.
Siop Siarad
THE JULY meeting of Siop Siarad, the local group for Welsh learners and speakers, will be held at 11am on Saturday at the Bridge Cafe.
Angling
THE Cambrian Angling Association’s annual competition for the Emrys Evans Memorial Cup which was held last Friday at Gamallt Lake was won by Calfyn Williams.
