WI

THE local branch is celebrating its centenary.

Its hall at Wynne Avenue was open to the public for a few days last week where those attending were able to view the documents, members’ names, books, secretaries, records and members’ work over that period.

Many of those who attended described the mini exhibition as being very interesting.

Bishop

JUST weeks after the district lost their vicar after David Brownridge’s move to High Wycombe, news has come that Roman Catholic Bishop Edwin has had to leave the area due to ill health.

For the last five years he had been bishop of Blaenau’s St Mary Magdalene and the Holy Cross at Gellilydan, and after his final service at St Mary Magdalene a dinner was held at Seren Hotel where he was wished the best for the future, thanked for his service to the community and presented with a gift by John Dean.

CLLR Rory Francis has been elected to represent the town council on the board of governors at Ysgol Maenofferen and Cllr Ronwen D Roberts has been elected to the Ysgol Tanygrisiau board.

A REPRESENTATIVE of the Citizens Advice Bureau will be at the library on Mondays between 10am and 1pm ready to deal with any relevant questions anyone might have. No appointments are needed to attend.
