THE MAY meeting, held in the church hall could have been a disappointment for members, when the speaker, Lavinia Range, unfortunately had to cancel at the last minute.
Lavinia, a local artist, had agreed to talk about and demonstrate, ‘The Joy of Painting Flowers’.
Members were, however, delighted to welcome Glenys Lawson in her place and found her enthusiasm and running commentary whilst painting, quite infectious.
Glenys, stating that she will paint with anything – test pots from Wilco in this instance – used acrylics as she had to complete the painting in 45 minutes, describing at the same time what she was doing.
She had prepared the outline of an iris and filled it in by building layer upon layer. Although the lighting in the hall made colour choice difficult, the finished picture was beautiful.
Members were extremely grateful to Glenys for standing in at such short notice and for providing them with a very entertaining and educational evening.
The June meeting on the 11 June, will be a visit to Treborth Gardens.
