RAFA

THE Llanidloes Branch of the RAFA is having a dinner to celebrate 70 years since the branch was formed in April 1948.

Gardening Club

THE next meeting of the Llanidloes and District Gardening Club is on Tuesday, 27 March at the Elephant Inn, Longbridge Street, 7.30pm.

The guest speaker is Gareth Davis from Talybont. He will speak on ‘The magic of roses’.

New members and visitors are always given a warm welcome.

Complimentary teas and coffees are available as well as drinks from the bar. New members annual subs are £5 and visitors £3 on the night.

Rotary Club

LLANIDLOES Rotary Club has recently donated 10 gigantic chocolate eggs to its annual ‘Giant Easter Egg Raffle’.

The popular raffle is organised by the Rotary Club and supported by 10 local proprietors in aid of a variety of charities.

Last year’s raffle raised over £1,250 with funds going towards charities such as Alzheimer’s Society and Tenovus, with local projects such as the towns palliative care centre and community centre roof also benefiting.

Some of the charities supported in this year’s raffle are Wales Air Ambulance, Noah’s Ark Appeal and Multiple Sclerosis Society to name but a few.

Raffle tickets can be bought from one of the following businesses where the proprietor will inform you of their chosen charity: The Crown and Anchor, Red Lion Hotel, Unicorn, Coffeebean, Woosnam and Davies newsagent, Stag Inn, Mount Inn, Bistro Hafren, Blue Bell Llangurig and the Red Lion Trefeglwys.

Coffee morning

A COFFEE morning and Bric A Brac sale was held on Saturday, 24 February, at Chatwood in aid of Llanidloes Dial A Ride.

The event raised £615 for this vital community service.
