FOLLOWING an enjoyable Christmas dinner at the White Swan in December, the first meeting of 2018 proved to be very quiet indeed.

Folders of research materials donated to the society by Eric and Joyce Dockerty were laid out and members became totally absorbed reading the material and making notes.

The collection includes transcriptions of Medical Officers Reports, Graveyard Survey, Parish Registers, Vestry Records, Census Returns, shipping records of all descriptions for Llansantffraed and the whole Ceredigion coast and many pictures and maps.

One evening was not nearly long enough and members requested that the contents of the History Society cupboard be brought out more often.

Society member Marianne Pateman will talk on ‘A History of the Harp’ at the next meeting in Llanon Reading Room at 7.30pm on 5 February.
