Coffee morning

A COFFEE morning will be held at Machynlleth Job Centre on Friday to raise money for the Macmillan cancer charity.

From 10am until noon on Friday, 29 September, all are invited to attend the Macmillan’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ at the Job Centre, on Heol Maengwyn.

There will be a raffle and admission is free, although donations will be gratefully received in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Darts AGM

THE Dyfi Foresters is hosting the Dyfi Valley Darts League AGM for 2017/18 on Friday, 29 September, starting at 7.30pm. All welcome.

Celf-Able

CELF-ABLE is a group by and for disabled and disability artists, in Powys.

They provide opportunities for disabled and disability artists to get together and work, share and learn from each other.

They aim to reduce isolation and raise awareness of disability arts and disability issues.

They are open to disabled and non-disabled people, artists and people who would just like to have a go at art.

They meet in Newtown, Llanfair Caereinion and Machynlleth.

The meetings are in the Warren Room, Care Centre on 18 October between 11am and 3pm.

Cancer Research

IN a joint report to members, Alwena Price (treasurer) and Meinir Davies (secretary) were delighted to report that, in mid-August, thanks to the generosity of the public and commitment of the collectors, the Machynlleth and District Committee raised the superb sum of £890.28 for North West Cancer Research through its annual street and house-to-house collection.

The collectors were: Caryl Davies, Meinir Davies, Margaret Davies, Alice Hughes, Teleri Humphreys, Bronwen Jones, Catrin Jones, Eryl Jones, Geraint Jones, Heulwen Jones, Alwena price and Michael Williams.

Chairman Geraint Jones, said: “We are fortunate indeed to have such dedicated officers and members to ensure that the facilities at Bangor, Liverpool and Lancaster Universities continue to receive funds for vital research. We also send our heartfelt thanks to the public for their great support. Diolch yn fawr iawn.”

Geraint went on to send a warm invitation to all to a coffee morning, which will include various stalls and raffle, at the Machynlleth Rugby Club on Saturday, October 7, from 10am until noon. Admission is £2.

“I look forward to see you all on the day to help raise even more funds for research by the three universities’ dedicated teams.”

Afternoon Tea

TO thank Eirlys Pugh and the staff at NatWest for their hard work and dedication in the community of Machynlleth and Bro Ddyfi, a celebration afternoon tea will be held at Caffi Alys, Heol Maengwyn, on Friday, 29 September, at 5pm.

Tickets cost £10 with all proceeds going to the Wales Air Ambulance.
