Council Meeting

MACHYNLLETH Town Council will hold its next meeting at Plas Machynlleth on Monday, 26 March, from 6.30pm.

Formal notice of the meeting, together with the evening’s business, will be posted on the council’s notice boards in front of the town library and the Plas foyer.

Club Maglona

CLWB Maglona – Bro Dyfi Senior Citizens is holding its next meeting on Thursday, 22 March, 2pm at the bowling club.

This month’s guest-speaker presentation is the Magic Lantern by Dilys Williams.

New members are always welcome.

Planning

ON 15 March, in the Machynlleth planning area, Powys Planning Committee approved an application for the erection of a dwelling and detached garage and all associated works on plot 4, Coed yr Onnen, Glantwymyn.

In the period 21 February to 8 March, under delegated powers, county planners approved the following applications: demolition of conservatory and erection of a sunroom, Ty Hir, Pennant, Llanbrynmair; change of use of barn to residential and erection of an extension to link the dwelling to the barn to include some demolition, Cockshed, Llanwrin.

During the same period, an application for the creation of a roof terrace on the existing flat roof, accessed by alterations to the existing window opening to form a doorway at 21 Poplar Road, Machynlleth, was refused.

Heritage Society

ON Wednesday, 4 April, the Dyfi Valley Heritage Society will welcome quest speaker Nicola Ruck, who will give a talk on her famous romantic novelist and Welsh writer great-aunt, Roberta Ruck (1878-1978).

The talk will be given in the foyer of the Tabernacle, Heol Pen’rallt, at 7pm.

AGM Tuesday, 3 April at 7.30pm.

Book Club

THE Tabernacle-based book club is inviting booklovers to join them in a reflection of life through literature in the Green Room on Friday, 6 April.

Particular discussion will revolve around The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Mark-Kidd.

County Pool

MACHYNLLETH Môr-ladron travelled to the North Wales Pool Interleague Division Two’s unbeaten leaders, Welshpool A, on 11 March and, despite a number of close-fought frames, the homesters won the day 27 frames to 13.
